Description
This is my depiction of one of the Silmarils of Feanor. Much like with my Raistlin picture, none of the images I've seen before quite lives up to my mental image of these glorious, luminous things. Even this image is but a pale reflection of the beauty my mind paints. ...At least partially because it's a static image, and I've always pictured the Silmarils as vibrant, almost living things.

yeah, I totally agree with you. I sort of imagine the silmaril as some sort of uncut jewel that could fit perfectly into the palm of my hand, with the entire spectrum floating and dancing inside it, starshine and moonrays and sunlight blended together -- not just reflecting light the way a mirror would but being alive with light, animate yet not animate, the most beautiful, pure, unsullied thing in the world...
